Melanie Bourke
,
DNP, PMHNP

Melanie Bourke is a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) primarily practicing in Las Vegas, and licensed to provide care in Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Minnesota. Melanie completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Minnesota in 2017, and after graduation joined the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the U of MN where she provided specialty care for patients experiencing a First Episode of Psychosis, Neurodevelopmental Disorders (ADHD and ASD), and Treatment Resistant Depression. Melanie uses a holistic, person-centered approach in care, including pharmacological (medication) treatments, complementary and alternative therapies, and psychotherapy. Melanie holds herself to a high standard for how healthcare should be delivered and has seen far too often that there is not enough time devoted to understanding the person seeking care. She prides herself on being a resource, supporting patients with finding the tools needed to achieve individual health and wellness goals. Melanie believes every person is worthy of connection and those connections with others are imperative for maintaining good health, and the basis for her approach to care. Melanie joined our team in 2023 as a way to continue her care practice and incorporate innovative, evidence-based healthcare. There is increasing interest in psychedelic medicine in psychiatry because it has been shown to be effective and safe in treating depression and other psychiatric disorders that have not responded to conventional methods, such as medication. Melanie is excited to complete certification for psychedelic-assisted therapy in 2023 to provide the highest quality of care for our patients. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her partner and dog Sid, outdoors hiking, camping, and learning how to snowboard.

She is accepting, non-judgmental and passionate about holistically treating the whole person with a focus on mental health. Tricia holds a Master’s in Social Work and a Master of Science in Nursing. Outside her practice, she enjoys spending time with her cat and dog (who is a trained therapy dog) and spending time outdoors exploring the PNW.

Jennifer Chauvin
,
DNP, PMHNP

Jen Chauvin is one of our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. Jen works on consultations and follow-ups for new and existing clients for Spravato (esketamine), IV Ketamine, and TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) for all our clinic locations in Oregon and Nevada. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Jen started her nursing career in emergency psychiatry at University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. During that time, the city was still recovering and rebuilding from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, and there was a tremendous lack of mental health resources for residents, as well as a steadily growing number of houseless people living in poverty. Inspired by her experience working in the emergency room seeing patients continue to come back with symptoms of depression, and PTSD, she moved back to the Pacific Northwest to obtain her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree. Shortly after she received her Doctor of Clinical Practice degree. Jen also works in psychiatry for a major hospital system in the metro-Portland area, primarily serving a low-income, homeless, minority population, including violent, forensic (criminal), and court-committed mental health, adult patients. In 2021, we began utilizing Spravato on locked psychiatric inpatient units for those who met the criteria, which was truly groundbreaking for those with treatment-resistant depression to finally be given the opportunity to receive life-changing treatment. Jen states she could not be happier to work with such an amazing group of clients and coworkers. It is so encouraging to see the progress and improvements that clients have experienced over time, and I feel very lucky to be a part of the journey to alleviate treatment-resistant depression. These are exciting times we are in with the use of psychedelics for mental health treatment, and my plans for this year include training to be a certified facilitator for psychedelic-assisted therapy. I am really looking forward to what the future will bring for my clients.

Melinda Anello
,
PMHNP-BC, PMH-C

Melinda is a psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) practicing in Portland, Oregon. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) at Linfield University and her advanced practice nursing degree from Gonzaga University. She gained advanced training in Perinatal Mental Health in her post graduate studies and holds certification as a Perinatal Mental Health provider (PMH-C). In her practice, Melinda uses a person-centered, holistic approach that includes medication management, complementary and alternative therapies, and supportive psychotherapy. She feels strongly that each person’s mental health is influenced by their age, gender, language, faith, sexual and gender identity, and the path toward healing must incorporate all of these facets. Most importantly, she believes that we are not defined by our diagnosis. Melinda has spent more than 20 years working in the nursing profession. She has practiced in clinical and hospital settings as a women’s health nurse, high-risk labor and delivery nurse, and postpartum nurse. After witnessing the stigmatization of mental health concerns in pregnancy and the disparity of adequate services, she continued her education to help fill the gap for this underserved population. Melinda draws on this unique training and experience to guide her approach to psychiatry which may benefit individuals with mental health concerns related to premenstrual distress, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, birth trauma, pregnancy loss, or abortion. Melinda also recognizes that partners and fathers are also deeply affected by these life events and seeks to provide care for partners as well. Melinda is a proud recipient the Daisy Award, an award honoring individual nurses for their "extraordinary compassion and skill." She strives to use her skillset to provide quality services to anyone seeking comprehensive, affirming mental healthcare.
